STEVENS POINT, Wis. (Mar. 8, 2014) - Hitting the track for the final time before the upcoming national championships, the North Central College men's track and field team made one last push to secure improved qualifying marks on Saturday in the National Qualifier at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
The fifth-ranked Cardinals' top finish in the unscored meet was a second-place showing by
Mitch Gilbert in the 3,000-meter run (eight minutes, 37.75 seconds). He was followed across the line by teammate
Dave Janet in third place (8:39.54).
Roger Klein also added a third-place showing in the 5,000-meter run (14:48.70).
Kyle Pembrook and
Kyle Olesen tied for fourth place in the high jump (six feet, six inches), while the 4-by-400-meter relay team of
Dionte Hackler,
Derek Nelson,
Pat Foley and
Mustapha Olaoye finished fifth (3:19.42).
Adam Lundquist finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (8.46).
Spiros Angelakos turned in a personal best of 1:54.61 to finish seventh in the 800-meter run, followed by
Richard Ruske in eighth (1:54.76) and Foley in 10th (1:55.19).
The
2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships will be held Friday and Saturday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb.
