Lina Baker has been honored as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Field Event Athlete of the Week for Apr. 7-13.
Baker was selected as the conference's top-performing field-event competitor after posting a first-place finish in the hammer throw for the second straight week, winning the
Chicagoland Outdoor Championships at Lewis University with a distance of 175 feet, eight inches. Her mark was nearly 20 feet better than her closest competitor and helped the 13th-ranked Cardinals post a second-place finish in the 20-team meet.
Baker also placed first at the
Wheaton College Invitational on Apr. 4 with a distance of 180'10", which broke her own North Central varsity record and currently ranks first in the CCIW and second among all NCAA Division III athletes. She was a Division III All-American in the hammer throw last season.
The Cardinals return to Wheaton on Thursday for the Don Church Twilight Meet. Competition is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
