Nora Ferguson has been honored as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Running Event Athlete of the Week for Apr. 14-20.
Ferguson brought one of the CCIW's weekly awards to North Central for the second straight week after winning the 800-meter run at the
Wheaton College Don Church Twilight Meet on Thursday with a personal-best time of two minutes, 14.85 seconds. She also ran on the Cardinals' 4-by-400-meter relay team, which placed fifth in 4:10.06. Ferguson's 800-meter time currently ranks first in the CCIW and 23rd nationally among NCAA Division III competitors.
Ferguson competed in her first national meet at the Division III Indoor Championships in March and placed second in the 800, third in the mile run and seventh in the 5,000-meter run at this year's CCIW Indoor Championships. She ranks fourth on the current CCIW outdoor list in the 1,500 (4:45.3) and seventh in the 5,000 (18:13.00).
The Cardinals compete in the Benedictine University Twilight Invitational on Friday before hosting the CCIW Outdoor Championships at Jay and Dot Buikema Track May 2-3.
