DECATUR, Ill. (Apr. 26, 2014) – The North Central College men's tennis squad earned its second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) victory of the season, wrapping up regular season play with an 8-1 victory over Millikin University, Saturday afternoon at Fairview Park Tennis Center.
The Cardinals (9-10, 2-4 CCIW) opened the afternoon with a clean sweep of all three doubles matches as
Rustam Saini and
Oliver Moews teamed up to defeat Taylor Nave and Cristophe Klomp, 8-6 at the No. 1 position. At No 2,
Connor Sass and
Mason Sass outdueled Emerick Fulton and Juan Carlos Santamaria, 8-2 while
Jesse Adamson and
Aleksandar Vasic were victorious at No. 3 by an 8-4 margin.
In singles play, Saini made quick work of Nave at No. 1, 6-3, 6-1, while Moews downed Fulton at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6. At. No. 4, Adamson toughed out a 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 victory, while
Connor Sass breezed past Alex Cardascio, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and Vasic downed Kyle McArdell, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6
North Central will participate in the CCIW Tournament hosted by Elmhurst College, May 2-3 at Berens Park.
