Apr. 28, 2014 – The North Central College women's tennis squad closed out the regular season Monday afternoon, dropping a 7-2 decision to Saint Mary's College (Ind.) inside the Res/Rec Center.
The Belles (11-7) opened the afternoon with a clean sweep of all three doubles matches as
Katie Drone and
Miranda Grizaffi fought tough, but ultimately fell 9-8 to Shannon Elliott and Audrey Kiefer at the No. 2 position.
In singles play, the Cardinals were victorious at the first two positions as Drone battled out a 6-7, 7-6, 10-7 victory over a tough Mary Catherin Faller at No. 1, while Grizaffi cruised past Jackie Kjolhede in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.
North Central will participate in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Automatic Qualifier Tournament, hosted by Elmhurst College, May 2-3 at Brune Tennis Courts.
