DECATUR, Ill. (Sept. 14, 2014) – Improving to 3-1 in College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play, the North Central College women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over Millikin University, Sunday afternoon at Fairview Tennis Center.
In doubles play, the Cardinals (5-2, 3-1 CCIW) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead as
Kelsey Forkin and
Reynolds Cross fought out a 9-7 victory at the No. 1 position over Paige Bequette and Molly Angell. At the No. 2 spot,
Katie Drone and
Clare O'Connor defeated Melissa Donovan and Aurbrie Sabin, 8-4 while
Miranda Grizaffi and
Hanna Andersson made quick work of Elizabeth Breitbach and Amber Morgan, 8-1 at No. 3.
At No. 1 singles, Drone defeated Bequette in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, while Grizaffi fought out a 7-5, 5-7, 10-8 win over Angell at No. 2 and Forkin downed Sabin, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3. At the No. 4 position, Cross defeated Breitbach, 6-2, 6-3, while O'Connor cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Donovan at No. 5 and Andersson improved to 3-1 this season at the No. 6 position with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Morgan.
North Central travels to Carthage College, Tuesday, Sept. 16 with matches slated to begin at 4 pm at Smeds Tennis Center.
