Sept. 27, 2014 – The North Central College women's tennis team's five-match win streak came to an end Saturday afternoon at the hands of College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) foe Wheaton College, 9-0 at the NCC Tennis Courts.
The Thunder (6-1, 4-0 CCIW) swept all three doubles positions to open the match, as
Katie Drone and
Hanna Andersson fought tough but fell just short 9-7 to Erika Nelson and Kirstie White at the No. 2 spot.
In singles play Wheaton claimed all six matches in straight sets, as
Kelsey Forkin battled White to a tough 7-6 opening set loss, but could not muster enough momentum later in the match and ultimately falling 7-6, 6-1.
North Central (6-3, 3-2 CCIW) returns to action Oct. 1, playing host to Elmhurst College with matches slated to begin at 2:30 pm.
