Box ScoreFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEContact: Kim Ippolito, Graduate Assistant to Sports Information Director, 630-637-5324CHICAGO, Ill. (Sept. 30, 2014)– The North Central College women's soccer team couldn't find their groove on Tuesday night as they fell to the No. 12 ranked University of Chicago Maroons, 7-0.
The Cardinals (3-2-2) battled back and forth the first half against the Maroons (9-1), but began to struggle as Chicago knocked in two header goals off of corner kicks.
Nicholette Fulk took her turn with a corner kick that gave
Mary Lanoue the opportunity to shoot, but unfortunately came up short.
The second half was more active for the offense as
Caitlyn Orawiec put up four shots on goal for North Central.
Noelia Reyes,
Jorie Pelafas,
Morgan Geiser and
Rebecca Sneddon also took their shots in attempts to put the Cardinals on the board, but were unable to get past Maroon goalkeepers Mallory Morse and Jacinda Reid.
North Central competes at home on Saturday in their first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin matchup this season against Carthage College. Game time is set for 12 p.m. at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
