Jan. 20, 2015 - North Central College women's track and field athlete Ebony Stallworth has been named one of the first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the 2015 season. The CCIW announced this week's selections on Tuesday.
Stallworth selected in a vote by the CCIW's head coaches as the conference's top-performing field event athlete of the past week. She opened her 2015 indoor season on Friday at the Grand Valley State University Mike Lints Alumni Open, turning in a third-place finish in the highly-competitive meet in the shot put with a distance of 45 feet, 6 1/2 inches, before breaking her own North Central varsity record in the 20-pound weight throw by recording a mark of 51'3 1/2" to place ninth.
A two-time NCAA Division III Outdoor All-American in the shot put, Stallworth also owns the Cardinals' top all-time shot put performances both indoors (45'11 1/4") and outdoors (47'4 1/2"). She won individual championships in the shot put at the CCIW's Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2014.
No. 11-ranked North Central hosts the Cardinal Opener at Al B. Carius Track on Friday, with competition set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
