Jan. 27, 2015 - North Central College women's track and field athlete Ebony Stallworth has been named one of the first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for the second straight week, as announced by the CCIW on Tuesday.
Stallworth selected in a vote by the CCIW's head coaches as the conference's top-performing field event athlete once again after breaking her own North Central indoor varsity record in the shot put with a distance of 46 feet, 3 1/2 inches in Friday's Cardinal Opener at Al B. Carius Track. She placed fourth in the event and also ranks fourth nationally among NCAA Division III competitors in the shot put this season.
She was picked as the CCIW's leading field-event athlete last week as well after opening the 2015 indoor campaign by breaking her own school record in the 20-pound weight throw (51'3 1/2") in the Grand Valley State University Mike Lints Alumni Open on Jan. 16.
A two-time Division III Outdoor All-American in the shot put, Stallworth owns the Cardinals' top all-time shot put performances both indoors and outdoors (47'4 1/2"). She won individual championships in the shot put at the CCIW's Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2014.
No. 11-ranked North Central travels to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the Warhawk Classic on Saturday. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
