Contact: Drew Sauer, Assistant Sports Information Director, 630-637-5324Box ScoreOct. 5, 2015 – Snapping a two-match win streak, the North Central College women's tennis team was unable to overtake the Lady Reds of Carthage College, falling by a 8-1 decision in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) dual at the NCC Tennis Courts on Monday afternoon.
In doubles play the Cardinals (3-3, 3-2 CCIW) battled tough but were denied victories in each of the three positions, as
Kelsey Forkin and
Clare O'Connor put up a fight at the No. 1 position, but ultimately fell 8-4 to Max Mella and Angelica Emmanouil.
In singles play, Carthage (4-1, 2-1 CCIW) was able to secure five of six matches, as Forkin earned the lone victory for the Cardinals at the No. 3 spot, defeating Eliza Barter, 6-1, 7-5. At the No. 4 position, O'Connor gave Taylor Bolyard a run for her money, but was ousted 6-3, 6-3.
North Central continues CCIW play on Saturday, Oct. 10, hosting Augustana College at 3 p.m.
