Women's Tennis Grabs First Two Wins of Spring Season

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (March 20, 2015)­– The North Central College women's tennis team kicked off the spring season the right way on Friday grabbing two wins in the Spring Tennisfest held in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Cardinals (12-4, 4-3 CCIW) defeated Greenville College, 8-1, to start the day and followed up with a 8-1 win over Albright College (Penn.).

In the first match against Greenville, the Cardinals swept the board in singles getting all six wins with Katie Drone in the No.1 spot sealing a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

In doubles competition, Clare O'Connor and Kelsey Forkin had a solid 8-1 decision in their favor. Karissa Schroeder and Miranda Grizaffi follwed them with a win of their own 8-3.

Taking on Albright, the Cardinals remained steady in the singles winning five of the six matches.

Over in doubles, North Central had a sweep of victories. Kelsey Forkin and Clare O'Connor started things getting a final 8-6, Katie Drone and Hanna Andersson followed 8-3 and Miranda Grizaffi and Karissa Schroeder 8-4.

The Cardinals compete in day two of the Spring Tennisfest on Saturday as they take on Norwood Univeristy at 8 a.m. (ET).
