(March 24, 2015)– Making a strong start to the season, the North Central College softball team wrapped up their trip in Florida going undefeated with a 10-0 record at the Dot Richardson Spring Games.
The Cardinals (10-0, CCIW 0-0) continued their dominate stake on Saturday snagging a pair of wins against Bethel University 6-5 and No. 22 ranked Rochester Institute of Technology 16-1.
North Central ended the game in five innings against Rochester.
Cecie Portillo grabbed two hits, one run and one RBI.
Kiersten Tinkoff walked away with three hits, one run and two RBI.Â
Jordyn Beck had two runs, two hits and one RBI to get the win.
On Monday, the Cardinals remained powerful with victories against Lawrence University 5-3 and Wellesley College 10-7.
Against Wellesley,
Andrea Starr got the win with two strikeouts.Â
Olivia Goethals had three hits with two runs and one RBI.
Amanda Walker ended the game with one hits with two runs and
Jenna Trojniar received one hit, one run and two RBI.
On the final day in Florida, North Central ended the trip with two shutout wins against Thomas College 10-0 and Kalamazoo College 9-0.
Taking on Kalamazoo, Tinkoff snagged two hits, one run and two RBI.
Carly Trenhaile also led the way with two hits and two runs. Starr started for the Cardinals receiving another win on the mound and at the plate grabbed four hits, one run and two RBI.
North Central competes in their home opener of the season on Saturday taking on Saint Mary's College (Ind.) at 1 p.m. in a double header.
