Apr. 12, 2015 – Wrapping up the regular season home schedule, the North Central College women's tennis team defeated Aurora University in convincing fashion Sunday afternoon, 9-0 at the NCC Tennis Courts.
Beginning the afternoon with doubles play, the Cardinals (13-5) shut out the Spartans (7-6) by 8-0 scores in each of the three matches. At the No. 1 position,
Kelsey Forkin and
Clare O'Connor defeated Abby Matayka and Micaela Mascha, while
Katie Drone and
Hanna Andersson teamed up to defeat Christy Savellano and Jordan Withey at No. 2 and
Miranda Grizaffi and
Karissa Schroeder made quick work of Melanie Findlay and Jamie Huff at the No. 3 spot.
In singles play, Drone shut down Savellano in straight 6-0 sets at the No. 1 position, while Grizaffi took care of Matayka, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2. At the No. 3 position, Forkin shut out Mascha in straight 6-0 sets, while O'Connor defeated Findlay, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4. Andersson cruised past Withey at the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 6-2 and Schroeder eased past Myar Mohamed, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
North Central wraps up the regular season on Monday, Apr. 20, traveling to Saint Mary's College (Indiana) with matches slated to begin at 4 p.m. (ET).
