April 14, 2015– Dominating in yet another doubleheader, the North Central College softball team blazes past College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) competitor, the Carthage College Lady Reds, 13-1 and 10-2 to push their winning streak up to 11 on Tuesday.

The Cardinals (21-1, 6-0 CCIW) made it look easy in game one as they took down the Lady Reds in just five innings. To start things in the first, Kiersten Tinkoff singled to knock in Kayla Antle for the first run. Carly Trenhaile bombed a triple to center field bringing in Tinkoff, giving the Cardinals the early 2-0 lead.

North Central's best inning came in the third where they crossed the plate seven times. Brooke Kehoe scored first off a walk with the bases loaded. Tinkoff pushed in another single, this time to center field to bring in Olivia Goethals. Corrine Rowe kept the momentum going with a single of her own to left field, allowing Antle to score.

Trenhaile and Jenna Trojniar hit sacrifice flies to push the score up 9-0, but it was Brooke Kehoe who smacked a double down the left field line for two RBI making it 11-0 for the Cardinals.

The Lady Reds gave it their last effort in the fifth, scoring one off a single and a double, but that wouldn't be enough as pitcher Starr secured her 11th win striking out all three for the 13-3 victory.

In game two, Carthage was up first on the board with off a double and an error on the defense to be ahead 1-0 in the second inning.

But North Central was quick to respond in the third with two doubles from Tinkoff and Rowe that brought in three runs as they took the lead 3-1.

In the fifth, the Lady Reds didn't back down after they grabbed two singles and used an error from the defense to score one more making it 3-2.

But with an explosive last two innings, the Cardinals shut the Lady Reds out for the remainder of the game. Starr crushed a two-run homer in center field during the sixth. And with two outs in the seventh, Antle started up the momentum with a bunt for a single. With two more singles and two doubles, North Central sealed the deal for the 10-2 win.

Pitcher Starr entered the game and received the win for the Cardinals (12-1) with five strikeouts.

North Central travels to Wheaton College on Thursday for another conference doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
