Apr. 17, 2015 – A few too many unforced errors haunted the North Central College men's tennis team on Friday evening, dropping a 8-1 decision to Illinois Wesleyan University in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) dual at the NCC Tennis Courts.
Starting the evening with doubles play, the Cardinals (5-10, 0-3 CCIW) were able to claim one of the three matches as
Adam Winters and
Kevin Davenport teamed up to defeat Kevin Piotrowski and Kyle Hyland, 8-3 at the No. 3 position. At the No. 2 spot,
Ryan Doeckel and
Connor Sass put themselves in a good position to win, but eventually fell 8-5 to Kurt Meyer and Calen Crim.
In singles play, the Titans (3-9, 2-3 CCIW) were victorious in all six matches by straight sets, as Winters fought tough at No. 4, but ultimately dropped the match 6-4, 7-5 at the hands of Meyer.
North Central continues CCIW play on Sunday, Apr. 19, playing host to Augustana College at 11 a.m.
