April 23, 2015– Perfecting their skills at the plate and on the field, the North Central College softball team shut out the Wisconsin Lutheran College Warriors, 4-0 and 18-0, in a nonconference doubleheader on Thursday.

The Cardinals (29-3, 10-2 CCIW) extended their win streak to six beginning in game one when they jumped on the board in the fourth inning after Kiersten Tinkoff singled to right field to start the momentum. With a single from Corrine Rowe, Amanda Walker then shot a three-run homer to left field for the 3-0 lead over the Warriors.

Tacking on one more run in the seventh, Kayla Antle snuck on base off a bunt and scored in for the Cardinals when Rowe smacked a double down the left field line to get the 4-0 final.

Pitcher Andrea Starr (17-2) got the win for North Central only giving up three hits and striking out 10.

In game two, the bats came more alive, consistently scoring runs throughout the whole game to end it in five innings.

Tinkoff's single to right field was enough to bring in Antle for the first run of the game and to extend her to a 19-game hitting streak.

Walker and Jordan Johnson also secured an RBI this inning helping the Cardinals get the 5-0 jump.

TInkoff kicked off the second inning with a home run of her own to left field, her third the season. Trenhaile, Walker, Bri Floyd and Brooke Kehoe each grabbed their own single for an RBI pushing the score up, 9-0.

To get their last four of the 18 runs in the fifth inning, Rowe started it with a single to center field to score in Megan Vargo. Carly Trenhaile took her turn with a double to left field, bringing in Jordyn Beck.  Walker followed with a single to right field to let Trenhaile cross home to clinch the 18-0 final.

Pitcher Sarah Esposito snagged the win, advancing her to 6-0 overall.

The Cardinals bring the action back home on Saturday taking on conference competitor Augustana College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
