Apr. 26, 2015 – Snapping an eight-match losing streak, the North Central College men's tennis team defeated Millikin University, 6-3 on Senior Day in the regular season finale.
The Cardinals (6-12, 1-5 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin) came out firing in doubles play, clinching all three positions to start the afternoon. At the No. 1 spot,
Oliver Moews and
Aleksandar Vasic hung on to defeat Connor Sacks and Noah Klumpe, 8-5. The Cardinal combination of
Connor Sass and
Ryan Doeckel made quick work of Emerick Fulton and Jimmy Page, 8-1 at No. 2, while
Adam Winters and Ryan Kohlmeier teamed up to cruise past Dane Pierantoni and J.C. Santamaria, 8-1 at No. 3.
In singles play the Cardinals took 3-of-4 matches from the Big Blue (9-9, 0-6 CCIW), as Sass downed Fulton in comeback fashion, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 position, while Winters easily handled Pierantoni, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Tyler Ringle was victorious over Santamaria at No.6, 6-2, 6-3. The Cardinals' lone senior,
Kevin Davenport, fought hard but ultimately fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4.
North Central will take part in the CCIW Tournament, Apr. 30-May 2, hosted by Carthage College at the Smeds Tennis Center in Kenosha, Wis.
