Apr. 28, 2015 – North Central College baseball player
Sam Carius was named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Week, released on Tuesday for the week of Apr. 21-27.
Carius hit .500 (10-for-20) over the course of the week, leading the Cardinals to a three-game series sweep over North Park University to remain atop the CCIW standings, leading in hits and total bases, to go along with two doubles, two runs scored and a .600 slugging percentage. Carius finished with multiple hits in each of the three games against North Park, raising his season batting average by 41 points.
This mark's North Central's fifth Player of the Week award, as
Ben Krusen and
Bryan Polowy were each named Pitcher of the Week, while
Chris Hill and
Bobby Smith have each earned Hitter of the Week.
North Central (23-12, 14-4 CCIW) travels to Schaumburg, Ill. on Wednesday, Apr. 29, taking on Dominican University at Boomer Stadium, with first pitch slated for 5 p.m. The link to live in-game statistics is available
