BELOIT, Wis. (April 7, 2015)­– Out scoring their opponent by 28 runs, the North Central College softball team wrapped up a successful doubleheader trip to Beloit College on Tuesday crushing the Buccaneers' 16-0 and 15-3.

The Cardinals (15-1, CCIW 2-0) started slow at the beginning of the first game with a single from Kiersten Tinkoff in the first inning, followed by an error that got in Kayla Antle in for the first run. 

It wasn't until the seventh inning where North Central came alive, scoring 10 runs to add to their already 6-0 lead. Another single up the middle by TInkoff knocked in Antle. Corrine Rowe doubled to left field bringing in Cecie Portillo. Carly Trenhaile took her turn with a single on the left side to advance Tinkoff to home. With three more singles and two doubles, the Cardinals sealed the final score 16-0.

Starter Andrea Starr got the shut out win advancing her record to 8-1 and collecting eight strikeouts.

In game two, North Central reversed the action by snagging eight runs in the first inning with three singles from Trenhaile, Amanda Walker and Brooke Kehoe and a double by Portillo.

The Buccaneers' responded with a home run to close out the first inning, but that wasn't enough as Rowe crushed her own home run to left field to start the second.

In the fourth, North Central grabbed the rest of their runs with two more singles and a double thanks to Antle, Portillo and Trenhaile to get the 15-3 win.

Starter Sarah Esposito received the win pushing her record to 3-0.

The Cardinals travel to Elmhurst College on Thursday to pick up CCIW competition again in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
