Kiersten Tinkoff and
Andrea Starr named to First Team and
Corrine Rowe,
Carly Trenhaile and
Amanda Walker selected to Second Team. Starr has also earned the CCIW Pitcher of the Year award.
This is the first year Starr has been chosen to All-Conference, being placed on First Team while receiving Academic All-CCIW the past two years. She is North Central's first recipient of the Pitcher of the Year award since 2005 when Jessica Siegel was the last Cardinal honored with this recognition. Starr has been a crucial part of the North Central team on offense at defense, maintaining a .352 batting average with five home runs this year including 35 hits and 27 RBI. In the circle, she's the team's starting pitcher holding a 1.59 ERA and is 19-5 overall in 158.1 innings pitched with 105 strikeouts this season. Starr is fifth all-time in wins holding 45 and fourth in strikeouts with 224.
Tinkoff enters her third straight year on the All-Conference list and second time named to First Team. She has headed the Cardinals all season at the top of the batting list starting all 38 games and holding a team high .463 average with 63 hits, nine doubles and four home runs for 47 RBI. Tinkoff is second all-time in fielding percentage with a .987 average and third all-time with putouts at first base with 1,094. At the plate, she is fourth all-time for the Cardinals with a .408 batting average over the past three seasons.
For the third straight year Walker has been named to the All-Conference selections, receiving Second Team this season. She has been a dominate hitter for the Cardinals over the past few years currently holding a .404 average with 46 hits, 10 doubles and one home run for 37 RBI. Walker has started in 37 games for the Cardinals this year and has collected 26 putouts in the outfield. She is third all-time in home runs (13) and RBI (115) for North Central.
This is the second time Trenhaile has been named to Second Team All-Conference, last receiving recognition in 2013. Trenhaile is at the top of the list offensively for the Cardinals this season batting .413 with 52 hits that includes nine doubles, three triples and one home run for 39 RBI. She holds a .556 slugging percentage with her 126 at bats. She is fifth all-time with triples for the team currently holding 10.
With her first year on the team, Rowe has received Second Team honors. She kicked off this season strong offensively and has sustained that tough stance at the plate batting .386 overall, leading the team with six home runs. Rowe has 44 total hits, with nine doubles and 43 RBI. She also heads the Cardinals with a .623 slugging percentage. Â At shortstop, Rowe has collected 50 putouts with 95 assists.
North Central travels to Lake Forest, Ill. for NCAA Division III Softball Regionals May 7-9.
