(Sept. 27, 2015) – Squaring off against the best competition the central region has to offer, the North Central College men's tennis team took part in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Tournament, Sept. 25-27 hosted by Washington University in St. Louis.
The duo of
Victor Krueger and
Connor Sass was the Cardinals lone doubles team, as the pair dropped its first round decision 8-5 to Nathan Neal and Nick Pollock of Wabash College, before succumbing from the tournament with a 8-0 loss to Lake Forest College's Trevor Allen and John Snider.
In singles play, the Cardinals were represented by
Oliver Moews and
Wilbur Williams, as Moews fought tough in his opening round match against Hope College's Michael Kiley, eventually falling 1-6, 6-2, 1-6. In the first round of the consolation bracket, Moews was undone at the hands of Capital University's Luke Buchanan, 1-6, 1-6.
Williams was paired against Radhakrishna Vishnubhotla of WashU in the opening round, dropping the match 0-6, 1-6, before being eliminated from the tournament at the hands of Vitalii Stadnyk of Earlham College, 2-6, 2-6 in the first round of the consolation bracket.
This concludes North Central's fall schedule, while the Cardinals open its spring schedule on Saturday, February 6, at the Knox College Triangular.
