Box ScoreMar. 21, 2016 – When the North Central College men's tennis team needed a hero the most, freshman
Tyler Bussell would step up and deliver. After initially being up 4-1, a wild turn of events saw Bussell end up sealing the victory, as the Cardinals prevailed 5-4 over Loras College.
The one seed, freshman
Victor Krueger, would suffer defeat 6-3 7-6, while junior
Connor Sass then easily disposed of his opponent 6-0 6-3. Junior
Aleksandar Vasic would then be dealt a 6-4 6-2 loss. Freshman
Wilbur Williams competed at a high level, and was rewarded with the 6-0 6-1 victory, while sophomore
Adam Winters went down 7-6 6-3. With everything on the line, Bussell dug deep and prevailed 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 (10-9)
The team of Krueger and
Connor Sass started things off positively in the doubles, with an 8-3 victory. Sophomore
Ryan Doeckel and Vasic would suffer a 9-7 setback, while
Hayden Sass and Winters won comfortably, 8-3.
The Cardinals wind down their trip tomorrow, when they face St. Olaf at Hilton Head High School, in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The match begins at 12:30 p.m. (ET).
