Apr. 13, 2016 – Snapping a three-match losing streak, the North Central College men's tennis team cruised to a 8-1 win over Aurora University on Wednesday in a non-conference dual at the NCC Tennis Courts.
The Cardinals (8-5) swept all three doubles positions to jump out to a 3-0 lead, as
Victor Krueger and
Connor Sass teamed up to defeat Jake Lipka and Robert Salerno, 8-5 at the No. 1 spot. At No. 2,
Aleksandar Vasic and
Hayden Sass made quick work of David Dobrose and Tom Asavarachan, 8-1, while
Alex Kohlmeier and
Adam Winters took down Patrick MacDonald and Michael Kitts, 8-4 at the No. 3 position.
In singles play, Krueger cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Salerno, while
Connor Sass defeated Lipka, 7-6, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 4, Winters downed MacDonald, 6-1, 6-3, while
Cristobal Arias-Staines took down Asavarachan, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5 and
Tyler Bussell shut out Kitts in straight 6-0 sets.
North Central travels to Augustana College on Saturday, Apr. 16, taking on the Vikings in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) matchup at 9 a.m., followed by a non-conference contest against the University of Dubuque at 12 p.m.
