Apr. 2, 2016 – The North Central College women's tennis team extended their winning streak to four matches with a 8-1 win over Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday evening inside the Res/Rec Center.
The Cardinals (9-5) began the evening winning two of the three double positions over the Falcons (17-2), as
Clare O'Connor and
Kelsey Forkin teamed up to defeat Ashley Solberg and Bailey Kelly, 8-2 at the No. 1 position, while
Katie Drone and
Kassandra Bernardo took down Hannah Tresedder and Michaela Wagner, 8-5 at No. 2.
In singles play, the Cardinals claimed all six positions in straight sets, as Drone cruised past Solberg, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1, while Forkin shut out Tressedder in straight 6-0 sets at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3, O'Connor defeated Sabine Jacobsen, 6-0, 6-4, and at No.4,
Marisa Coladipietro came back in the second set to defeat Kelly, 7-5, 7-5.
At the No. 5 position,
Karissa Schroeder took down Wagner, 6-2, 6-4, while Bernardo made quick work of Alisia Macioch, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
North Central is back in action tomorrow morning, playing host to Webster University at 10 a.m. in the Res/Rec Center.
