RIVER FOREST, Ill. (Apr. 20, 2016) – Reaching the double digit win plateau for the first time since 2011, the North Central College men's tennis team improved to 10-7 this season with a 9-0 victory over Concordia University Chicago on Wednesday afternoon.
Opening the match with doubles play,
Victor Krueger and
Adam Winters shut out Arial Manjarrez and Alex Vieaux, 8-0 at the No. 1 position. At No. 2,
Tyler Bussell and
Jon Stroede took down Mark Knight and Parker Lloyd, 8-1, while
Tyler Ringle and
Cristobal Arias-Staines won by default at No. 3.
In singles play the two teams decided to play eight-game sets with rain lurking, as Krueger was victorious over Manjarrez, 8-3 at the No. 1 position, while Winters made quick work of Vieaux, 8-1 at the No. 2 spot.
At the No. 3 position, Arias-Staines defeated Niko Vercelletto, 8-1, while Bussell shut out Knight, 8-0 at No. 4. Ringle earned an 8-2 win over Lloyd at No. 5, while Stroede was awarded a victory by default at the No. 6 spot.
North Central hosts Elmhurst College in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) dual on Friday, Apr. 22 at the NCC Tennis Courts with matches slated for 3 p.m.
