BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Apr. 26, 2016) – The North Central College men's tennis team closed out the regular season with a win on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Illinois Wesleyan University, 7-2 in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) dial at the Beadles-Morse Tennis Courts.
The Caridinals (11-9, 1-5 CCIW) opened the afternoon winning two of three doubles positions, as
Aleksandar Vasic and
Hayden Sass teamed up to defeat Calen Crim and Nick Sagastume, 8-2 at the No. 2 position, while
Adam Winters and
Ryan Doeckel downed John Cordan and Bryce Dolan, 8-2 at the No. 3 spot.
In singles play, North Central claimed five of the six positions over the Titans (0-12, 0-4 CCIW) with the lone loss coming due to injury default at the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 spot,
Victor Krueger cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kurt Meyer, while
Connor Sass defeated Crim, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3. At the No. 4 position, Winters took care of Cordan, 6-1, 6-2, while Vasic cruised past Sagastume, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Tyler Bussell made quick work of Dolan, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
North Central takes part in the CCIW Tournament hosted by Wheaton College beginning May 5 at the Wheaton Tennis Courts.
