Apr. 7, 2016 – Extending their winning streak to six matches, the North Central College women's tennis team powered past Aurora University, 8-1 Thursday inside the Res/Rec Center to close out the home portion of the schedule.
The Cardinals (11-5) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after doubles play, as
Clare O'Connor and
Kelsey Forkin opened with a decisive 8-0 win over Micaela Mascha and Alyssa Brems at the No. 1 position. At No. 2,
Katie Drone and
Kassandra Bernardo took care of Melanie Findlay and Haley Cooley, 8-2, while
Marisa Coladipietro and
Karissa Schroeder cruised to a 8-0 win over Mackenzie Smith and Alex Hultine at No. 3.
In singles competition, Drone defeated Mascha, 8-2 at No. 1, while Forkin shut out Findlay, 8-0 at No. 2. At the No. 3 position, O'Connor made quick work of Cooley, 6-1, 6-0, while Schroeder downed Smith, 6-0, 7-5 at No. 5 and Bernardo shut down Hultine in straight 6-0 sets at the No. 6 spot.
North Central travels to Saint Mary's College (Indiana) on Sunday, Apr. 10 with matches slated to begin at 1 p.m. (ET).
