CCIW Press Release
May 3, 2016 - The North Central College women's track and field team claims the top-performing track athlete in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) for the third time this outdoor season, as senior
Madison Renfro has been recognized as the CCIW's Track Athlete of the Week for Apr. 25-May 1.
Renfro received the distinction, her second of the current outdoor campaign, after winning the championship section of the 100-meter hurdles at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays on Saturday. Her season-best time of 14.00 seconds is the fastest by any NCAA Division III athlete this season in the event.
A three-time outdoor All-American and North Central's current outdoor record holder in the 100-meter hurdles (13.65), Renfro won the Division III national championship in the 60-meter hurdles in March, winning the 16th individual national title in the program's history. She also currently ranks fifth nationally in the 400-meter hurdles (1:02.34).
The Cardinals have won three of the five CCIW Track Athlete of the Week awards that have been bestowed this outdoor season. Renfro also received the honor Apr. 12 after finishing first in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 100-meter dash at the Chicagoland Outdoor Championships, while distance runner
Megan Costanzo was so recognized Apr. 19 after achieving a new North Central-record time in the 10,000-meter run (35:25.78) at the Mt. SAC Relays.
North Central will compete in the CCIW Outdoor Championships at Augustana College Friday and Saturday.
