Sept. 18, 2016 – Playing their second match in as many days, the North Central College women's tennis team rebounded from Saturday's loss to take down North Park University, 6-3 in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) dual at the NCC Tennis Courts.
North Central (1-1) took a 2-1 lead after doubles play, as
Kelsey Forkin and
Clare O'Connor teamed up to defeat Vilde Olvin and Justine DeBosscher, 8-4 at the No. 1 position, while
Katie Drone and
Marisa Coladipietro made quick work of Juviel Vinluan and Jasmine Madrid, 8-1 at the No. 2 spot.
In singles play, O'Connor battled Olvin to a tough 7-6 win in the opening set, before cruising to a 6-1 win to earn the victory at the No. 2 position. At No. 3, Forkin took down DeBosscher, 6-2, 6-3, while Coladipietro defeated Juviel Vinluan, 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.
Isabelle Wostoupal earned the Cardinals final win in singles play at the No. 5 position, shutting out Marlee McCabe in straight 6-0 sets.
The Cardinals return to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 21, playing host to Judson University with matches slated for 3 p.m.
