Sept. 7, 2016- Kicking off their inaugural campaign, the North Central College women's triathlon team had two athletes place at the Central Regional Qualifier in downtown Naperville.
 
Freshman Nikki Banas was the top finisher for the Cardinals, covering the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike, and 5-kilometer run in a time of 1:08.26 for a seventh-place finish. Freshman Grace Miller was the second North Central athlete to cross the line, finishing ninth overall with a time of 1:09:10. 

By finishing two participants, the Cardinals secured three spots into the National Championship on Saturday Nov. 5, 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Representing North Central at nationals will be Nikki Banas, Grace Miller and Jennifer Hufnagle. The Cardinals will have additional opportunities to qualify for nationals at the Eastern Regional Qualifier on Sunday Oct. 2, 2016 in Browns Summit, North Carolina.

Arizona State University was the elite team during this competition claiming the first-place finsher, Kathryn Corczyca, with a time of 58:57.91 and the second-place finisher, Charlotte Ahrens, with a time of 1:00.02. 

The Cardinals head out to Iowa for the Cyman Triathlon on Sunday, Sept. 18.
