Oct. 1, 2017 – Running into defending College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament Champion Augustana College on Sunday, the North Central College women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision at the NCC Tennis Courts.
 
Opening the afternoon with doubles play, the Vikings (7-1 5-0 CCIW) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, as the Cardinals suffered 8-2 losses in the first two positions.
 
In singles play, Diana Barcelata was the lone Cardinal to earn a victory, taking down Caitlyn Schaffer at the No. 1 position in straight sets 6-4, 6-3, while the Vikings claimed the other five positions, all in straight sets.
 
North Central (3-5, 1-3 CCIW) continues CCIW play on Tuesday, Oct. 3, traveling to North Park University with matches slated for 3 p.m. at the NPU Tennis Courts.
