GRIFFITH, Ind. (Feb. 11, 2017) – Squaring off against NAIA foe Purdue University-Northwest in the second match of the young season, the North Central College men's tennis team dropped a 8-1 contest at Matchpoint Tennis & Fitness on Saturday afternoon.
The Pride (4-0-) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping all three doubles positions, and went on to win five of the six singles matches, each in straight sets.
The Cardinals (1-1) lone victory came at the No. 6 singles spot, as
Tyler Haizel shut out James Newman in straight 6-0 sets, improving to 2-0 in dual meets so far this season.
North Central faces a lull in the schedule before traveling to Concordia University-Wisconsin on Friday, March 3 with matches slated to begin at 6 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Tennis & Fitness Club in Jackson, Wisconsin.
