HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Mar. 19, 2017) – In a complete team performance, the North Central College women's tennis team proved to be too much for Buena Vista University to handle, handing them an 8-1 defeat on Sunday evening, at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

On top of the team's victory, senior Katie Drone also had herself an evening to remember. Playing at the No. 1 spot, she made quick work of Lani Brown, defeating her 6-1, 6-1. The win moved her to second all-time in career wins at the one position for North Central, a well-deserved reward for her commitment and hard work throughout her time as a member of the program.

At the No. 2 spot senior Clare O'Connor took the first set from Tarynne Kinghorn 6-2, and was tested in the second set but ultimately prevailed 7-5. Senior Kelsey Forkin played at the No. 3 spot, easily defeating Emma Hartz 6-1, 6-0.

Sophomore Marisa Coladipietro added to the Cardinals dominance over the Beavers, as she claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Rica Mizero. Also of note for North Central was freshman Lauren Dvorak, playing at the No. 6 spot, turning in a dominant performance on route to capturing her first career singles win, as she defeated Emily Hoesing 6-0, 6-1.

Doubles competition bought about more good news for head coach Lydia Pond and the Cardinals. The duo of O'Connor and Forkin had no trouble with Brown and Kinghorn, picking up with 8-1 victory.

Drone and Coladipietro turned in an impressive display, on the way to their 8-3 win over Madison Gierstof and Mizero, while the pair of freshman Emily Adams and Dvorak prevailed 8-6 against Hartz and Hoesing.

The Cardinals only have a short time to rest, as they take on Virginia Wesleyan College tomorrow morning, Mar. 20, at the Chaplin Park Tennis Center, with the match commencing at 8:00 a.m. (ET).
