WHEATON, Ill. (Apr. 1, 2017) –
Guided by its core group of seniors, the North Central College women's tennis team extended its winning streak to five matches on Saturday afternoon with a 5-4 win over Concordia University Wisconsin in a neutral site match at the Wheaton College Tennis Courts.

North Central (10-6) jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after doubles play, as Kelsey Forkin and Clare O'Connor teamed up to defeat Ashley Solberg and Elizabeth Carroll, 8-2 at the No. 1 position, while Katie Drone and Marisa Coladipietro fought off Bailey Kelly and Hannah Tresedder, 8-4 at the No. 2 spot.

In singles play, O'Coinnor made quick work of Kelly in straight 6-1 sets at the No. 2 position, while Forkin cruised past Tressedder, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3, giving the Cardinals a 4-1 lead.

The Falcons (11-7) did not go down without a fight however, easily winning each of the fifth and sixth position matches, while Coladipietro traded the first two sets with Carroll, but ultimately fell 10-7 in the tiebreaker, knotting the match 4-4 with just one singles position remaining.

After dropping the opening set 6-2, Drone rebounded to win the second set over Solberg, 6-3 and face a deficit in the tiebreaker, but the senior came through in the clutch, mounting a late comeback to win the tiebreaker 10-6 and secure the 5-4 win for North Central.

North Central is back in action tomorrow, playing host to Purdue University Northwest at 11 a.m. at the NCC Tennis Courts.
