Men's Tennis Shuts Out Aurora, 9-0

Improving to 8-4 on the season, the North Central College men's tennis team shut out Aurora University, 9-0 on Thursday in a non-conference match at the NCC Tennis Courts.
 
The Cardinals opened the afternoon with a clean sweep in doubles competition, as Aleksandar Vasic and Alex Kohlmeier made quick work of Robert Salerno and Jake Lipka, 8-1 at the No. 1 position.  At No. 2, Victor Krueger and Tyler Haizel downed David Dobrose and Jared Burrow, 8-2 while Connor Sass and Tyler Bussell cruised to a 8-1 win over Tom Asavarachan and Patrick MacDonald, 8-1 at No. 3.
 
In singles play, Krueger fought out a 6-4 win the opening set over Dobrose and closed out the win with an easy 6-0 win in the second set, while Vasic faced a 5-2 deficit early in set number one against Salerno but rebounded to win 11 straight games en route to the 7-5, 6-0 victory.
 
At No. 3, Sass defeated Lipka, 6-2, 6-1, while Asavarachan was no match for Haizel at No. 4, easily winning 6-0, 6-1.  Adam Winters dominated as well at the No. 5 position to defeat MacDonald, 6-1, 6-2, while Bussell finished off Burrow, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 to cap the 9-0 win for North Central.
 
North Central continues non-conference play on Tuesday, Apr. 18, traveling to Dominican University with matches scheduled for 4 p.m.
