Apr. 21, 2017 –
The North Central College men's tennis team ran into a tough opponent in Millikin University on Friday in a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) match, stumbling 8-1 at the NCC Tennis Courts.

Millikin (12-3, 4-1 CCIW) swept all three doubles positions to take an early lead, as Victor Krueger and Tyler Haizel fought Connor Sacks and Emerick Fulton until the end, but ultimately suffered a 8-6 defeat.

In singles play, Adam Winters turned in the lone victory at the No. 5 position, downing Greg Schwoeppe in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.  At No. 1, Krueger fought back from a 6-3 opening set loss to Jacob Palley to even the match with a 6-3 win in the second set, but the two only played a third-set tiebreaker since the match was already decided in favor of the Big Blue, where Palley came away with a 10-3 win.

Tyler Bussell found himself in a similar situation at the No. 6 spot, rebounding from a 6-0 loss in the opener to score a 6-2 win in the second, but eventually lost the third-set tiebreaker 10-6.

North Central (9-5, 1-2 CCIW) continues a stretch of three CCIW matches in four days tomorrow, traveling to Carroll University with play slated to begin at 11 a.m. at the Kilgour-Trailblazer Tennis Center.
