May 8, 2017 – Three members of the North Central College softball team were selected to the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) all-conference team for their success in the 2017 season, announced on Monday.
The all-conference team, selected by the CCIW's head softball coaches, includes 30 student-athletes (16 first team members, 14 second team members) representing all nine conference institutions.
Brooke Kehoe was honored with a first team selection in her final year as a Cardinal. Kehoe finished the season with a .323 batting average, a co-leader in homeruns with three and third on the team in total bases (62) and slugging percentage (.477). She led the team in walks (14) and putouts, committing just six errors on the year, good for a .976 fielding percentage.
Rachele Belletini was selected as a second team recipient as a sophomore at second base. Belletini finished the season with a .270 average and led the team in triples (3) and shared the RBI title with 25 on the year. Her fielding percentage stood at .917 while she was part of 15 of the Cardinals 24 double plays on the season.
Her double play counterpart was also honored with a second team selection as
Taylor Clugston took the shortstop position as a sophomore. Clugston finished the season with an impressive .388 batting average, the best on the team and good for sixth in conference. She also finished third in conference in runs scored (36) and hits (57). Clugston led the team in slugging percentage (.503), on base percentage (.418) runs scored, hits, total bases (74) and stolen bases (12). She finished being a vital part of ten double plays this season.
Clugston and Belletini return next season while Kehoe will be one of two graduating seniors.
