Sept. 14, 2017 – The North Central College women's tennis team ran into a tough NAIA opponent in Judson University, falling 8-1 on Thursday at the NCC Tennis Courts.
 
The Cardinals (1-3) fell into an early 3-0 hole after doubles play, as Tiffany Smolik and Reagan Scherpe fought Marth Banda and Lauren Saiki to the wire at the No. 2 position, but couldn't pull out the win eventually dropping an 8-5 decision.
 
In singles play, Diana Barcelata claimed North Central's lone victory in straight sets over Banda, 6-1, 6-3, remaining unbeaten so far this season.
 
North Central continues College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) play on Tuesday, Sept. 19, traveling to Elmhurst College with matches scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Brune Tennis Courts.
