Beloit, Wis. (Nov. 10, 2018) - Continuing to build on their success in the young season, the North Central women's swimming & diving team turned in a strong showing at a double dual with Beloit and Ripon Colleges Saturday.
The Cardinals opened the meet with a strong showing in the 200-yard medley as the relay of
Abigayle Pfeiffer,
Marissa Hoppe,
Beth Ryan and
Savannah Catalano took first place (2:09.43), just ahead of Ripon College (2:09.76). North Central's relays came up big on the day, as Hoppe,
Samantha Kruzel, Maya Bidegaray and Ryan added a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle (4:07.61).
Many of those who made up the relays added strong finishes in the individual events as well. Hoppe claimed two first-place finishes of her own, in the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.86) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:14.89). Meanwhile, Kruzel added a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:50) as well as a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.47). Ryan finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.05).
North Central found success in the 50-yard freestyle, where Catalano placed fourth (30.26) and Pfeiffer sixth (32.90). Building on that success, Bidegaray finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:05.77), with Catalano not far behind in fifth (1:07.59).
