CCIW Press Release
Feb. 13, 2018 - North Central College men's track and field athletes
Maceo Findlay,
Ben Nordman,
Peyton Piron and
Daniel Spaccapaniccia, who combined to post the second-fastest NCAA Division III time in the nation in the 4-by-400-meter relay last weekend, share the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Track Athlete of the Week award for Feb. 5-11. The CCIW announced this week's selections on Tuesday.
The group clocked a time of three minutes, 19.23 seconds to place first in the event in the Pat Heenan Invitational at Al B. Carius Track on Saturday. Their time, which converts to 3:16.11 on a banked surface such as the one which will be used at this year's NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, ranks behind only the University of Mount Union's (Ohio) time of 3:15.05 among Division III entrants.
Piron also ranks eighth nationwide in the 400-meter dash (49.30) and also received Track Athlete of the Week honors on Jan. 30 alongside
Chris Buechner,
Michael Anderson and
Zach Hird after placing first in the distance medley relay at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Squig Converse Invitational.
The Cardinals now own five CCIW Athlete of the Week Awards this season. Distance runner
Nolan McKenna and pole vaulter
Dylan Kuipers were named the conference's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, on Jan. 16 and distance runner
Dhruvil Patel was selected Track Athlete of the Week on Feb. 6.
North Central hosts the F. Lee Slick Invitational on Friday.
