Feb. 20, 2018 - North Central College men's track and field athlete
Nick Janca has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Field Athlete of the Week award for Feb. 12-18, giving the Cardinals their sixth such award during the 2018 indoor campaign. The CCIW announced this week's selections on Tuesday.
Janca placed second in the high jump in Friday's F. Lee Slick Invitational at Al B. Carius Track, clearing a personal-best height of six feet, 9.50 inches (2.07 meters). He currently is tied for the second-best mark in the event in the CCIW this season and ranks 10th nationally among NCAA Division III competitors.
The Cardinals claimed half of the 12 weekly CCIW awards that were distributed this indoor season. Distance runner

Dylan Kuipers were named the conference's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, on Jan. 16, the distance medley relay team of
Chris Buechner,
Peyton Piron,
Michael Anderson and
Zach Hird was honored on Jan. 30, distance runner
Dhruvil Patel was recognized Feb. 6 and the 4-by-400-meter relay squad of Piron,
Daniel Spaccapaniccia,
Maceo Findlay and
Ben Nordman was picked last week.
North Central will look to claim its 17th CCIW Indoor Team Championship this weekend at Carthage College. Competition will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday and resume at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
