ORLANDO, Fla. (March 19, 2018)- The North Central College women's tennis team lost its footing, falling 9-0 to Calvin College during the third match day of their Spring Break trip.
In singles play the Cardinals struggled to get an edge on their opponents, with Calvin (5-2) overpowering them with straight sets and claiming all six positions.
Diana Barcelata and
Tiffany Smolik put up the toughest fight going 6-3, 6-4 and 6-2, 7-5 in their singles matches respectively.
The Cardinals continued to fight for positions in the doubles matches but fell swiftly in all three matches unable to earn more than four points, which was accomplished only by the team of Smolik and
Katie Legorreta.
North Central's second game against William Smith College was rained out for the evening.
The Cardinals (3 -12) finish out their Spring Break trip on Wednesday, March 21, against Colorado College. Match time is set for 10 AM (ET)
