BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (Mar. 31, 2018) – Competing in their second College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) match in as many days, the North Central College men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday, indoors at Evergreen Racquet Club.
Victor Krueger and
Tyler Bussell opened doubles play with a 8-2 win over Kurt Meyer and Tim Hughes at the No. 1 position.
Adam Winters and
Tyler Haizel then teamed up to defeat Jimmy Kase and Dylan Mikaili, 8-3 at No. 3, while
Lucas Pindak and
Alex Kohlmeier downed Ryan Yoo and Justin Piotrowski, 8-4 at the No. 2 position.
The Cardinals proceeded to win all six singles positions in straight sets, as Krueger made quick work of Meyer in straight 6-2 sets at No. 1, while
Marco Salazar clinched the match victory for North Central with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Tim Hughes at No. 3.
North Central (6-11, 1-1 CCIW) continued to pour on the wins, as Haizel took down Mikaili, 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 5 position, while Winters earned a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Piotrowski at No. 2. At No. 4, Bussell cruised past Yoo, 6-1, 6-2, while Pindak closed out the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Kase at No. 6.
North Central continues CCIW play on Thursday, Apr. 5, playing host to Elmhurst College with matches beginning at 3 p.m. at the NCC Tennis Courts.
