DECATUR, Ill. (Sept. 16, 2018) –
Hitting the court for the first time this season at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Fall Tournament, the North Central College men's tennis team turned in a pair of second-place singles finishes at the Fairview Park Tennis Complex.

At No. 3 singles, Andy Hinch scored a huge 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 comeback win over Augustana College's Guilherme Calixto in the all-important opening round match.  In the semi-finals, Hinch took down Grant O'Connell of Elmhurst College in straight 6-4 sets, before eventually falling in the championship match to Matt Krzewinski of Carthage College.

Also scoring a second-place finish was fellow freshman Nolan Orth at No. 6, as Orth opened with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Carthage's Patrick Zaker, before advancing to the championship match with a 7-6, 6-3 defeat of Augustana's Alex Riddle.  In the championship match, Orth was ousted by Augustana's Joao Magalhaes by scores of 6-1, 6-0.

The two second-place singles finishers were the highest for the Cardinals since Tyler Bussell took home the championship at No. 6 singles in 2015.

North Central wraps up the quick fall season with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Region Tournament beginning on Friday, Sept. 28, hosted by Washington University-St. Louis at the Tao Tennis Center.
