Competing for the first time after a seven-week long hiatus, the North Central College women's swimming & diving team battled two conference foes Friday night at the Millikin Triangular, which saw the team miss out on the first four events due to the weather.
Katherine Canfield took home the team's top finish by winning the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.58. The senior also earned third-place points in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing in 2:21.66, and teamed with Sam Kruzel,
Beth Ryan and
Amy Feltz in the 200-yard freestyle relay for another third-place finish (1:48.46). Marrisa Hoppe turned in the Cardinals' other third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.55).
Fourth place finishes came from Ryan in the 100-yard freestyle (57.81), Feltz in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.97), and the team's "B" team of Hoppe,
Savannah Catalano,
Molly Olk and
Amelia Woods in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:55.80). The Cardinals secured spots five through eight in the 50-yard freestyle, with Ryan in fifth (26.54),
Amelia Woods in sixth (26.68), Feltz in seventh (26.60) and Catalano in eighth (30.75). Meanwhile, Hoppe added a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:27.07), while
Samantha Kruzel posted an identical finish in the 100-yard butterfly (1:09.84).
