Competing for the second time in less than 24 hours, the North Central College women's swimming & diving team battled Division II talent at the Lewis University Triangular where they amassed nine points to finish behind Lewis (57) and Davenport University (16) Saturday.
After they were denied the opportunity to compete in the 200-yard medley relay at Friday night's triangular, the team of
Katherine Canfield,
Marissa Hoppe,
Beth Ryan and
Amy Feltz finished in 1:55.10 to establish a new season best and earn a third-place finish. Canfield owned North Central's other third-place finish as she completed the 200-yard individual medley in 2:21.98.
The Cardinals got fourth place finishes from Feltz in the 200-yard freestyle (2:16.91), Ryan in the 50-yard freestyle (26.34), and from Angelic Brockman in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing ahead of
Maya Bidegaray in fifth (1:28.86) and
Savannah Catalano in sixth (1:32.01). The Cardinals closed the meet with another strong relay performance, as Canfield, Feltz, Ryan and
Samantha Kruzel finished the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:47.87 to claim fourth.
North Central travels to Wheaton on Feb. 2 to compete in a triangular alongside Augustana College, the team's final competition before the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships the following weekend. The meet is set to get underway at 11 a.m.
