NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Nov. 5, 2019) - In their first-ever dual meet, the North Central College women's wrestling team took down MacMurray College 27-21 behind three pins to push the Cardinals past the Highlanders.
Angelina Graff (109) began the action for North Central as she won via tech fall (12-2) to give the Cardinals their first points of the match. Following her at 116-pounds was
Abby Eisenbeis who also won by tech fall to give North Central an 8-6 lead, as MacMurray won the 101-pound match by way of forfeit.
Following a forfeit at the 123-pound weight class,
Amanda Martinez (130) shutout her opponent 10-0 to win by tech fall.
Asia Nguyen-Smith earned the first pin of the night as she pinned her MacMurray opponent in just 0:34 seconds to give the Cardinals a 17-11 lead. In the 155-pound match,
Malea Palahniuk took her Sam Bush of MacMurray down in just 0:38 seconds to record North Central's second pin of the match.
Yelena Makoyed (170) began her match quickly and ended up pinning her opponent at the 1:16 mark to give North Central a 27-16 lead. In the final match, Jezebel Pardo of MacMurray pinned
Angelina Kirkpatrick at 1:47, but it wasn't enough as the Cardinals would end up on top, 27-21.
North Central's next event is on Nov. 17th as they travel to Marshall, Mo. to participate in the Missouri Valley College Open.
