Steven Faux and
Tommy Huizinga swept the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week awards for Mar. 18 for the efforts in helping the Cardinals maintain their unblemished record. The CCIW announced the selections on Monday.
Faux, a junior attackman from Mineola, N.Y., led North Central's defense with ten ground balls and five ground balls in the team's 18-1 win against La Roche College on Mar. 15. He also tallied 17 ground balls and six caused turnovers when North Central beat Trine University, 7-4, on Tuesday, Mar. 12. He currently leads the team with 32 ground balls on the season and ranks second with 15 caused turnovers. At the conference level, he sits third in ground balls per game, averaging 6.40 per game.
Huizinga, a junior midfielder from New Lenox, Ill., was one of four Cardinals to score three goals against La Roche and added an assist. He also added three goals and an assist in the team's win at Trine.
This week's honors marks the third for the Cardinals this season.
Jacob Ray earned the first CCIW Player of the Week award on Mar. 11.
