Apr. 24, 2019 – For the second week in a row, a North Central College men's tennis player has been named College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week, as
Victor Krueger earned the weekly award released by the conference on Wednesday.
Krueger led the Cardinals to a pair of wins over Elmhurst College and Millikin University last week, going 2-0 at No. 1 singles, scoring a 6-1, 6-1 win over Elmhurst's David Demoll on Apr. 17 before defeating Millikin's Jacob Palley, 7-6, 6-3 two days later.
Teaming up with
Andy Hinch at No. 1 doubles, the pair rolled to a 8-2 win over Elmhurst' Demoll and Shawn Sabaricos while taking down Millikin's Palley and Colin Sandgren by a 8-6 final to finish the week a perfect 4-0.
This marks the third CCIW Player of the Week award for the Cardinals this season, as Hinch has earned the award on Apr. 17 and Feb. 6.
North Central finished the regular season with an overall record of 17-5, while finishing third in the conference standings with a record of 5-2. The Cardinals will take part in the CCIW Championships from May 2-4, hosted by Millikin University at Fairview Park Tennis Complex in Decatur, Illinois.
